On this page:

WebDesktopManager

WebDesktopManager employs an object-based approach to give you granular control over every visual aspect of its elements.

WebDesktopManager employs an object-based approach to give you granular control over every visual aspect of its elements. Offering a rich set of properties to control shortcut, icons, taskbar, and window elements, it enables you to create the precise appearance your desktop requires with a minimum of effort.

In version 4, WebDesktopmanager has been fully support for latest web standards and style sheet language which are HTML5 and CSS3. WebDesktopManager also allows you to use many cutting-edge technologies such as HTML5, CSS3 and powerful features offered for your next-generation web applications.

These are the following details of enhancements and new features that have been implemented in WebDesktopManager:

  • Fluid content

To enable height percentage of WebDesktopManager, you only have to set Height property in TaskBarStyle and WindowHeaderHeight in WindowSettings. During implementation, height of Desktop will depend on WebDesktopManager’s Height property and TaskBarStyle’s Height property and the rest will be calculated automatically by our control. Also the content of WebDesktopWindow will be fluid as it should be regarding to WindowHeaderHeight and its Height. This configuration is necessary because of element changed from table to div.

  • Smooth moving and resizing

Adoption of HTML5 causes changes in performance on WebDesktopManager. HTML5 enables consistent results and pixel-perfect rendering in all modern browsers that makes smooth moving and resizing in all browsers that support HTML5.

  • Stand-alone TaskBar’s image

In WebDesktop 4, you can specify image inside Taskbar by using TaskBarImage in WebDesktopWindow or WebDesktopShortcut.

  • Container style when using complex images border

When using complex images border type, you can apply container style inside WebDesktopWindow by changing the value of ApplyContainerStyle to true value. In usage the container will have the specific class that shows the container in different way from its frame.

  • New intuitive style in WebDesktop 4

In version 4, WebDesktop present a new style in each of its control. Metro style as the latest UI in Windows 8 had been implemented and became brand new UI in our WebDesktop control. Metro style makes WebDesktop simpler, tidier, and more attractive for each control's UI. The intuitive design of Metro style also provides consistency of each control in HTML5.

You can simply use Layout Manager to implement Metro style in WebDesktop.

For more information on how to apply this configuration, see How-To: Using Layout Manager.

Note that Internet Explorer 10 or later no longer supports the legacy DX filters when the document type is HTML5. Therefore, some features such as loader transition will no longer work in such conditions. You can, however, force to enable legacy filters in Internet Explorer 10 by enabling the Render Legacy Filters option in Internet Options' Security tab.

WebPaneManager

WebPaneManager puts you in control of the screen, providing all the tools you need to develop layouts that organize your applications content and give it a consistent, professional appearance. ClickAndEdit and ClickAndSelect technology make building even complex layouts a breeze.

In version 4, WebPaneManager couldn’t grow its height automatically. This happens because in version 4, the element of WebPaneManager has changed from table element to div element. You can specify each height in each WebPane tag and WebPaneManager will do the rest for collapse, expand, resize, and etc. Table layouting is no longer supported because with table element in HTML5, WebPaneManager will decrease its performance because the features of WebPaneManager need to maintain its fluid content.

This is the following details of enhancements and new features that have been implemented in WebPaneManager:

  • Fluid content

WebPaneManager has fluid content that can adjust its size when the window or panes are being resized. This fluid content behavior also depends on the height of each pane. After specify the height of each pane, the client side method will handle the features of WebPaneManager. The usage of calc is crucial in this version to organize the height and width of WebPaneManager. So it is necessary to use browser that has supported calc element in CSS3.

  • Auto-growing Header when InfoText is availabe

When InfoText is available, WebPane will itself calculate the best height based on Height's WebPane settings. This makes WebPane's header auto-growth when InfoText is defined with long sentences.

  • New splitter engine for WebPaneManager

The usage of splitter in version 4 has been changed completely. This is because the earlier version of splitter doesn't meet the requirement in version 4. In this version, WebpaneManager has a built-in splitter that supports HTML5 and CSS3 standards. It shows a good performance result when resizing and smooth animation when moving. You can also add style to the splitter indicator by assigning the value of the splitter image.

  • High performance using shadow animation

While resizing, you can use shadow to improve the resizing method. With shadow animation, some of client-side methods won’t be called / invoked during the cursor movement.

  • New intuitive style in WebDesktop 4

In version 4, WebDesktop presents a new style in each of its control.

PlaceHolderManager

A PlaceHolderManager represents four-edge partitioned table, where each side acts as a container for docking, and the middle area acts as the content placeholder.

In version 4, PlaceHolderManager has been refined to fully support the latest web standards. This allows you to use many of the PlaceHolderManager features in your next-generation web applications and at the same time leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as HTML5 and CSS3.

Following are list details of the enhancements and new features introduced in PlaceHolderManager:

  • Fluid Layout with HTML5 doc type

It is very common to have the height of PlaceHolderManager fill the available space vertically. Here, available space means space of its parent control. If the height of parent control is not 100% then height of the table couldn’t be 100%.

If we are trying to set 100% height of the table directly contained the body of an html page then we will need to set the height of the body and html first.

The same thing applies when users resize the window of PlaceHolderManager.

WebTab

WebTab offers numerous customizations, such as flexible tab size, structure management, scroll enable, closure enable, and automatic resizing. Set global widths, or switch to automatic adjustment according to the content’s width. Structure management is a unique feature which enables you to load the last saved tab structure programmatically at runtime. Scrolling enables users to scroll through all tab items when there are too many tabs to fit the width of the WebTab control.

In version 4, WebTab has adopted HTML5 and CSS3 standards. The container has fluid height regarding to DefaultTabItemHeight property and WebTab’s Height. The consistency of HTML5 rendering also makes WebTab as pixel-perfect control which can be filled regarding its container.

These are the following details of enhancements and new features that have been implemented in WebTab:

  • Fluid content

There are differences between HTML4 and HTML5 rendering and they cause a height gap in WebTabItem. To resolve this issue, you can specify the height of its header by using DefaultTabItemHeight property. Please take a note as well about padding inside WebTabItem. In version 4, you don’t have to use padding to make the content inside WebTabItem centered in HTML5. The content inside WebTabItem by default is centered using our code. Default value in HTML5 for DefaultTabItemHeight is 23px.

  • Separator visibility

In version 4, you can also define the visibility of Tab item's separator whether in active state or normal state. Simply by changing AlwaysVisibleSeparator to true value, WebTab will show the separator whether in active or normal state.
