In order to use the chart in a report, you need to make sure that Intersoft.Client.Reporting.DataVisualization.dll has been included as an assembly reference.
Once it's included, you will see the chart component is appearing in ribbon gallery. See the following image.
Click on the chart component and insert it into the design surface. You can easily re-position the chart with simple drag-and-drop. You also will notice that several resize handles are attached to the corner and side of the chart which allows you to configure the size of the chart.
Configuring Data Source
You can configure the datasource from the smart-tag attached into the chart. All of your datasource will be shown there, if you have defined them previously. To learn how to define a datasource, see Defining Data topic.
Configuring Chart Series
Series is a related group of data values that are plotted on the chart. Each plotted point is a data point that reflects the specific values charted. ClientUI Reporting supports more than 20 types of series to be used in a report. See Chart Series Overview for complete listing about the supported series types.
Simply double-click on the chart component. It will launch a chart editor, which looks like the following image. In the first tab, you can configure the chart's series and in the next tab, you can apply any filtering and sorting mechanism for chart.
The chart is built with the capabilities to support various types of chart series. Not only one series, but you can also insert multiple series into it. You can even combine more than one type of series as long as they share the same area type. However, not all of them can be combined together, such as pie and doughnut series.
Area is a place or region for displaying all of the chart items such as title, axes, gridlines, data series, and legend. Chart area controls what type of series you can place within it. For complete combination of series type which you can combine together, see Chart Area Overview. You can configure it by launching the chart area editor.
Customizing Chart Behaviours
You can easily customize the chart's behaviour through the property grid. From there, you can also customize the appearance of chart's title, legend, series label, and etc. To learn more about chart behaviours, see Charts Overview.
Using Custom Palette
ClientUI Reporting has provide some built-in palettes that can be used for the chart, such as Default, Vivid, Earth Color, and Pastel. However you are still allowed to create your own palette. From the property grid, set the PaletteType property as Custom. Then open the CustomPalette editor to define a new palette.
For more information about the built-in palette, please refer to Palette Overview.
